Camp Kesem GW is a free one-week summer camp for the children of cancer patients. Serving children ages 6-18 from the Maryland, Virginia, and D.C. areas, Camp Kesem GW is the only D.C. area-chapter of a registered 501(c)3 nationwide nonprofit and is organized and staffed entirely by college students at the George Washington University. Due to the financial burden cancer places on families, camp is completely free for all eligible families. We seek to provide children with a refuge from a stressful home environment and give parents a chance to focus on their own health for a week.
Because there is no cost to all eligible families, GWU college students must raise all the money necessary to host each summer's camp. Our 2013 summer camp, which will serve 90 children, will cost approximately $70,000 to cover these campers' room, board, and activities. We would appreciate any donation you can make at this time. Thank you!
